The Starmaker. Chapter 60

by Writing Shark

A small loss and a big win

It’s like you’re waiting for a woman to submit to you. It takes time, as women aren’t so quick with these things, but in the end, it’s worth it. Mostly. And it makes you smile to think how much it will be worth it for you.

“Here you go, Sir.” The girl at the Starbucks drive trough leans a little lower to give you a look under her green apron as you accept your coffee. You give her a friendly nod, then wait again. Finally your cell phone rings.

“Yes?”

“Damian. Welcome. Thank you for coming without prior breefing.” Of course she summons you to her office. She wants to humiliate you. Because Scarlett Johanson is sitting next to her and can’t look you in the eyes.

“Reese.” You shake hands.

“I figured you would have something similar in mind.” You point to Scarlett. “I’m just wondering why you want to leave, Scarlett,” you address her directly. You’re not nervous, just cautious, but when the woman shakes your hand like a frightened child, limp and weak, you know you have nothing to fear.

“That’s not up for debate today,” says Mrs. Witherspoon, pushing a folder over to you. “The only important thing is that Miss Johanson’s contract expires in a few weeks, she no longer has any open projects and she no longer wants to continue her contract with Stratton Starmakers. Instead, she wants to switch to Ivory.” She just said that last thing to spite you, but you look at Scarlett and know that you know secrets about this blonde beauty that Reese will never find out.

At least until your plan is completed.

“Hmm…” you say and lean forward, ignoring the resignation letter in front of you and looking directly at Scarlett. “I think that’s a mistake, Scarlett,” you say coldly and the woman shrinks into a small pile of ash in her chair. “We had a deal and I kept my side the whole time. Do you have that too?”

“Yes Sir,” the woman says before Mrs. Witherspoon can react.

“Hush Scarlett,” she says encouragingly, holding the woman’s hand. Women always stick together as long as they don’t stab each other in the back. You have only been able to observe true loyalty in men and so you are also sure about this matter. “Damian, it’s very simple. Scarlett doesn’t want to be with you anymore and frankly, I can imagine why.”

“So?” You sit back.

“Yes.” The woman’s eyes dissect you. “Stratton Starmakers has an impeccable reputation, but we both know how Hollywood works. Nobody can tell me your company’s successes aren’t based on the exploitation of women who don’t know any better.” You grin.

“See Scarlett? You always had value to me. This woman here, on the other hand, thinks you don’t know any better. And I think she’s right. This isn’t you. You don’t belong here. You belong to me.” Of course you refrain from making a better offer. You don’t negotiate with terrorists.

“Maybe I could…”

“Quiet! Scarlett, don’t forget your pride.” Of course, Reese stops her but you just shrug your shoulders. Scarlett Johanson is no great loss. “Mister Stratton, the situation has been decided. Sign the document.”

“Okay, Reese.” You pull out your expensive pen. “Well played,” you say as you sign. Then there is no more to discuss. Scarlett won’t betray you, you know that. Too much incriminating evidence, you have her career in your hands and, above all, she needs a firm hand to make decisions. Scarlett Johanson isn’t the first to try to get away from you and won’t be the last. You get up and leave.

“Hey babe.” Olivia greets you at the door like a good girl with a kiss and a hug. Then she steps aside and pushes the somewhat nervous Camila towards you so that she can get the same thing. Then Olivia takes your hand and leads you into the house. In the living room the girls take off your outer clothes. “We missed you,” your girlfriend grins and plays with her overpriced bracelet.

“I missed you both too,” you test the water but Olivia smiles warmly and welcomingly.

“Come on, sit down. Make yourself comfortable and let me help you relax.” She actually gets on her knees and takes off your shoes while Camila goes behind you and massages your back without saying a word. She is happy to be with you, now in expensive clothes, bought by Olivia, but knows that she is still subordinate to her. She’s just moved up a lot. Olivia puts your shoes aside, leans over you, kisses you deeply and then stands up. “I have a surprise for you,” she says happily and skips out of the room. It really surprises you, you were expecting a sexy costume or Ashley Alexander as a sex toy. Instead, Olivia holds two bowls in her hand.

“Wait…” You look inside.

“I made it myself,” your girlfriend smiles, overjoyed. “With a little help.” She looks at Camila, but she doesn’t say anything else.

You eat your dinner, it actually tastes acceptable for Olivia’s first attempt at spicy food, while Camila gives you a massage and your girlfriend puts on your favorite movie.

“Here.” She shows you her cell phone, which she puts aside. “Tonight I’m only for you. May I?” she asks before cuddling up to you. “I’ll be there for you like this every night from now on.”

And while the opening credits are playing, it’s she who says something quickly, a little nervously, while Camila is in her element. “I haven’t been a good girlfriend lately and I want to apologize. I’m sorry I was so emotional. That must have really annoyed you. You deserve better from your girlfriend and I’m grateful that you didn’t replace me. In the future, I will try harder to do justice to you.”

“Come here,” you say, pulling her towards you and kissing her. “No one could ever replace you. I like you, Olivia. Not just because of your appearance and your skills.” The film starts but your girlfriend is more important to you. “I lost Scarlett Johanson as a client today and I gave Amy Wren to Rebecca.”

“Rebecca…” Olivia is getting scared, you can see it in her eyes. She knows who the mature woman is. “You were with her?” You nod.

“And now I’m with you. Babe, you are special to me. And if I have to choose between you and Rebecca, I’ll always choose you. And you know that I will say it at some point.” Olivia Dunne looks at you for a long time, unsure, nervous, afraid. Then she nods and swings away from you. That surprises you again.

“It’s your turn Camila,” Olivia says and waves the girl next to you on the sofa. “When I’m around him I just can’t keep my mouth shut.” She winks at you. “Because I can’t believe how lucky I am with this guy.” Then she gets on her knees in front of you and unbuttons your pants. “So now you two are watching the movie, eating and kissing and saying intelligent things. And I’m going to shut my mouth down here, be quiet, and get my own dinner.”
