Your Island. Chapter 1

by Writing Shark

A new chapter in your life

The Gulfstream G800 dashes through the early morning sky over the mid-Pacific at near the speed of sound, trailing wingtip vortices through the humid air. For hours you’ve been staring numbly out the big round window, watching your previous life, and your mental state, fade into the distance. He has taken everything from you and you hate him for it.

“Do you have another wish?” asks the beautiful stewardess, but you just shake your head and ignore her.

Being nice doesn’t fit in with the life he has planned for you.

He is rich. He is powerful. And he’s evil. And he wants you to be all of those things too. And you obey him, tapping the tablet that has been on your lap for several hours now.

‘My son,’ comes his voice from the tablet. ‘I know you’re angry that I ripped you out of your life so suddenly, but it’s time you became a man and took your place by my side.’ This makes you sit up and take notice, as you are moving away so quickly from your homeland and everyone you know. ‘The company needs you. She needs the son I see in you. I’m sure you know that we make our fortune producing many things, but there’s one line of business I haven’t told you about. That’s why you’re here.’ You blink, don’t know much about the multi-billion company your father runs. ‘You’re on your way to an island that’s not on any map. It’s remote and secret. There, I’ve set up a completely autonomous complex that you’ll be running from now on.’

“What the hell…” you mumble in surprise. Until now, you’ve been the black sheep of the family with your nice nature, but your father has destroyed that nature by systematically taking everything you hold dear from you. And now he wants you to work for him?

‘The staff there practically belong to the company, i.e. you. No passports, no nationalities. They’ve brought their families with them and have practically disappeared from the system. That’s the best way to work and you’ll find out about the projects under your control. Your goal is, of course, to earn money. In the short term, I don’t even want the island to be connected to the financial system, but in the long term, secrecy is a top priority.

“Oh man…” So you’re supposed to run an entire island? What is your father thinking? But you can guess, as the black sheep of the family, you are the most dispensable and your disappearance from your college is less noticeable than when one of his loyal employees is suddenly absent from meetings. Shaking your head, you continue to listen.

‘You’ll have all the powers there. It’s a special place and that requires special leadership.’ Then your father pauses and the stern, cold face you’ve so rarely seen suddenly softens. ‘Liam. I know you’re the last person who wants to take on this task, but that’s why I chose you. And I know… The things I’ve done to you… You don’t have to forgive me. But I want you to know that I did all this for you.’ On the screen, he leans forward. ‘Liam. You have to be a man now. No more childish friendships. No more free time. And no lazy life. You have to be tough now Liam. Tough and unyielding. Find your strength. I’ve given you everything for this.’ His words are hard but his face is soft, becoming even kinder until he looks at you almost apologetically. ‘Use your feelings for yourself, Liam. Even if it goes against me. I can deal with that. But be the man I need right now, even if you hate me for it.’

You pause the video and look out of the window again. Your father is right, you hate him. And you hate a lot of things in your life. He is responsible for that. But you still don’t want to get revenge on him.

“Sir?” It’s the stewardess bending down to you again. She is young and beautiful with big eyes and flawless skin.

“What?” you ask gruffly, startled at the sound of your voice. The young woman flinches slightly then hands you a royally wrapped parcel.

“I’m supposed to give you this.” Annoyed, you grab the parcel. “Sorry.” Then she quickly withdraws.

The comfortable leather of the seat beneath you creaks slightly as you lie down in the aisle and watch her sneakily. Her ass bulges under her tight blue skirt as she disappears down the aisle towards the pilots. She turns around briefly and sees you staring at her.

In the past you would have turned away in shame, but those days are behind you and you’re not good enough to be decent. Why should you be? Even before your father told you what your job would be, you decided to be a different person and after the loss of everything you held dear and the imminent start of a new life, you wonder if your father knows what he just told you, given your permission to do.

No nationalities, no passports, a remote island, full powers… He told you to be a man. He didn’t say what kind of man.

These thoughts run through your mind as you stare emotionless at the stewardess, her breasts under her uniform and her legs pressed together in her skirt and nylon stockings.

No. A nice person is not required here and it gives you a perverse satisfaction to know that now that you have become a bad person, your father will surely be proud of you.

Your eyes are still burning on the young woman as you make the decision in your head. And when you know what you’re going to do with the task you’ve been given, the stewardess smiles uncertainly at you. And you smile back wickedly. With red cheeks, the young woman sits down in her uncomfortable little seat and you lean back in your big armchair. The parcel and the tray are on your lap.

‘Son. Liam. This is a big task but also an opportunity,’ your father says as if he knows what’s happening to you. ‘I know you can handle it. I trust you. But I’m not letting you go on this adventure alone. Open the box.’ And with that, the video ends, just as abruptly as your previous life and just like there, you can’t even say goodbye here. The screen is simply black, just like your soul.

The Gulfstream races through the sky as the sun rises towards a new day as you open the package.
